Gurteen

On 28th September 1784, D. Gurteen & Sons was established by Daniel Gurteen (1750-1813). He specialised in weaving a material called Drabbett, which was used for making smocks and worn by the agricultural workers of the time. The business grew rapidly, and in 1880 at the onset of the industrial revolution, Daniel Gurteen III invested in mechanisation by installating a magnificent steam engine that remains in the factory and in pristine condition to this day. The business expanded into the manufacture of men’s clothing, silk smocks and by 1900 the company was employing some 2,500 people in and around Haverhill.

This close link between the family and town remains as important as ever. In WW2 the Gurteen factory, named Chauntry Mills, was fully occupied making uniforms and clothing with some 1,500 stockists throughout the United Kingdom. The company developed a strong reputation for good fitting, well made, quality clothing - and continued to grow from strength to strength.

Today, Gurteen is run by the sixth and seventh generation of the family who share the excitement and challenges of a 21st century marketplace. With a large private label business for household names and a branded business with stockists throughout United Kingdom, the business continues to thrive on its passion – producing great clothing!

Lansdown

Lansdown is a small family owned business based in Carmarthen, Wales. They started life as Quiltknit, manufacturing technical knit shooting jumpers for the shooting fraternity for over thirty years. Their expertise in high performance fabrics was recognised when they were asked to make specialised wicking horse rugs for premium rug manufacturer Lansdown.

Using only the best quality fabrics, ensuring a perfect fit (whether human, equine or canine!) and offering excellent value for money; their shared values led to them acquiring Lansdown in the 1990s and they continued to make premium and bespoke horse rugs, hand crafted in Wales, to the present day.

Their shooting apparel has continued to grow from strength to strength, with the recent introduction of our half zip style, the addition of gun dog drying coats to the range, and with Quiltknit being incorporated into the Lansdown brand in the first half of 2012.

Their most exciting recent development has been the development of their range of ladies equestrian clothing. The journey started at Badminton Horse Trials in 2011 where they introduced a few colourful polos and hoodies to brighten their stand and break up the displays of rugs. They were overwhelmed with the response as people queued in the aisles to purchase! Encouraged, they developed their first capsule collection in 2012, and two seasonal collections followed in 2013 which were also made available to trade customers.

Ian Flaherty

Ian Flaherty cufflinks are all designed by Ian and his partner Sasha and hand-made in our workshop in London. The cufflinks are made predominantly from fine English pewter and base metal. They are then fully plated with Rhodium before being meticulously hand finished to the highest standard, literally meaning you cannot polish any brighter!

Rhodium is the most expensive precious metal in the world, costing over $80,000 per kilogram, so you can be confident that you are buying cufflinks of the very highest quality.

All the crystals used in our cufflinks are from world-famous Swarovski.

Bladen

For many years Bladen has been a closely guarded secret for the select few, with awareness (and occasional jacket) passed down from one generation to another.

But finally the time has come to introduce Bladen Original and Bladen 1917, our range of business suits, town coats and dress suits, to a slightly wider, but equally discerning clientele.

With the highest standards of traditional craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail, the finest fabrics and unique designs, all combined with a truly British heritage, Bladen is perhaps not for everyone.
